slrcosmos: (going mad)

My laptop of four years starting locking up this past weekend. I took it to a local repair shop Monday, thinking it was dust and if they could vacuum it out. The dude there did vacuum it but told me that 'zclient' was causing my computer to lock up. They charged me for labor, which was $50 but they didn't remove the zclient program. After getting my computer home yesterday, I figured out that my firewall program was the zlcient and removed it. The tech claimed they left my comp on overnight and ran like 10 virus scans and that it didn't lock up at all during that time. Well it froze twice yesterday, once before I removed ZoneAlarm and once afterwards. It didn't freeze for the rest of the night.

I turned it on this afternoon and after having it on for a few hours, it froze again. The only things I had open were Winamp, two Firefox windows and I was downloading a zip file at the time. I called the place up and the guy asked me 'what kind of programs are you running?' I don't know if he was joking, but that was a stupid thing to say. I use a wireless PC card at home and that was the only thing they didn't have when I dropped it off. I took it back to them today with the wireless card and we'll see if they figure out what the problem is. Luckily they gurantee their work for 5 days so I won't have to pay again.

The other thing that's dying is my DVD player, also 4 years old. It's been happening for a while. I'll be playing a brand new DVD with no scratches and randomly it will freeze and go to the next chapter. Luckily DVD players are a lot cheaper to replace. My b-day is coming up in two months so I guess that's what I'll be asking for.

Also my car is acting funky. As I was taking my comp to the store today, it stalled in the driveway after I put in reverse. It's basically not idling right. It's due for an oil change so it might be that. I have to talk to my dad about it.

Plus, my cat is still dying. 2005 is gonna be the year for dying things. Whee.
